Lightstone Value Plus Real Estate Investment Trust V, Inc., which was previously named Behringer Harvard Opportunity REIT II, Inc. prior to July 20, 2017, was organized as a Maryland corporation on January 9, 2007 and has elected to be taxed, and currently qualifies, as a real estate investment trust (REIT) for federal income tax purposes. We were formed primarily to acquire and operate commercial real estate and real estate-related assets on an opportunistic and value-add basis. In particular, we have focused generally on acquiring commercial properties with significant possibilities for capital appreciation, such as those requiring development, redevelopment, or repositioning, those located in markets and submarkets with high growth potential, and those available from sellers who are distressed or face time-sensitive deadlines. We have acquired a wide variety of commercial properties, including office, industrial, retail, hospitality, and multifamily. Substantially all of our business is conducted through Lightstone REIT V OP LP, a limited partnership organized in Delaware. Our business is managed by an external advisor and we have no employees.
